Context

The aim of the Juha Sipiläs goverment program is that half of the livestock manure and community sludge are within the advanced processing by 2025.

Objectives

The project focuses on organic fertilizers made of decomposition residues of the biogas plant. Solve what kind of needs farmers have of organic fertilizers. Estimate what kind of environmental and economic changes will come up by using organic fertilizers. Fertilizing tests will be carrying out with the farmers. Networking between the actors in the field is an essential part of the project. Close cooperation between farmers and researchers play a key role.

Objectives

Hankkeessa selvitetään viljelijöiden tarpeita kierrätyslannoitteille ja arvioidaan niiden tuotannon ja käytön aiheuttamia muutoksia ympäristöön sekä maatilojen ja koko käsittelyketjun kannattavuuden kannalta. Kierrätysravinteiden lannoituskäyttö testataan yhdessä viljelijöiden kesken. Tarkastelussa on biokaasun mädätejäännöksen jatkojalostuksen kehittäminen. Verkostoituminen alan toimijoiden kesken on oleellinen osa hanketta. Viljelijöiden ja tutkijoiden tiivis yhteistyö on avain asemassa.

Activities

WP1 figure out what kinds of needs farmers have of organic fertilizers and what kind of processing methods (of decomposition residues of the biogas plant) can be used to meet the needs of farmers. WP2 focus on testing plant nutrient values of processed organic fertilizers (biogas plant) and fertilizing tests in field trials. WP3 estimate how nutrient cycle change through the use of organic fertilizers, what kind of environmental benefits are achieved, is it worth to use organic fertilizers for the farmers and therefore, are the production of organic fertilizers profitable for the biogas plant. WP4 focus on communication and information exchange in Finland and in Europe, incl. EIP-Agri-network.

Activities

WP1 keskittyy viljelijöiden lannoitetarpeiden selvittämiseen ja olemassa olevien mädätysjäännöksen jalostusmenetelmien mahdollisuuksiin vastata viljelijöiden tarpeisiin. WP2 keskittyy biokaasulaitoksessa jalostettujen kierrätyslannoitteiden lannoitearvon ja käytännön lannoitustoimien testaamiseen kenttäkokeissa. WP3 arvioidaan, kuinka ravinnekierrot muuttuvat kierrätyslannoitteiden käytön myötä, mitä ympäristöhyötyjä saavutetaan, kannattaako tilojen ottaa kierrätyslannoitteita käyttöönsä ja näin ollen onko niiden tuotanto biokaasulaitokselle kannattavaa. WP4 keskitytään viestintään ja tiedonvaihtoon Suomessa ja Euroopassa, ml. EIP-Agri – verkosto.

1 Practice Abstracts

This project brought farmers, biogas producers and study in close proximity to consider what kind of organic fertilizers are needed in crop production and how this need can be met. The main objective of the project is to develop, together with the farmers, organic fertilizers which meet the needs of farmers, are safe and effective to use, and are made of the organic residuals and by-products of the agriculture and other sectors. The aim is to test at least two different types of organic fertilizer and ensure they meet the essential criteria of fertilizers, such as homogeneity, feasibility for plants and functional spreading ways. The project objective is to ensure the tested activities (organic fertilizers) friendliness to the environment and economic sense and compare them to the situation with currently used fertilizers or use of decomposition residuals (biogas plant) which is no further processed. The project also aims to promote Finnish nutrient cycle knowledge and share it with the rest of Europe, to create network of biogas and nutrient cycle experts and by that get the Finnish nutrient cycle and circular economy knowledge visibility in the rest of Europe.

Tässä hankkeessa tuodaan viljelijät, biokaasun tuottajat ja tutkimus lähelle toisiaan pohtimaan, millaisia kierrätyslannoitteita kasvintuotannossa tarvitaan ja miten tähän tarpeeseen voidaan vastata. Hankkeen päätavoite on kehittää yhdessä viljelijöiden kanssa heidän tarpeidensa mukaisia, turvallisia ja tehokkaita kierrätyslannoitteita maatalouden ja muiden sektoreiden orgaanisista jätteistä ja sivutuotteista. Tavoitteena on testata ainakin kahta erilaista kierrätyslannoitetta ja varmistaa niiden täyttävän lannoitevalmisteille olennaiset kriteerit, kuten tasalaatuisuus, käyttökelpoisuus kasveille ja toimivat levitystavat. Hankkeen tavoite onkin varmistaa testatun toiminnan ympäristöystävällisyys ja taloudellinen mielekkyys verrattuna nykyisin käytettäviin lannoitteisiin sekä siihen, ettei mädätysjäännöstä jatkojalosteta. Hankkeen tavoitteena on myös edistää suomalaista ravinnekierrätyksen osaamista ja jakaa sitä muualle Eurooppaan, luoda biokaasu- ja ravinnekierrätysalan osaajien verkostoja ja täten saada suomalaisille ravinne- ja kiertotalousosaamiselle näkyvyyttä myös muualla Euroopassa.
