OSMAR: Efluentes altamente cargados con valor fertilizante
Objectives
The general objective of the OSMAR Operational Group focuses on the revalorization of effluents loaded with organic matter into ecological fertilizers for use in horticultural crops, through technological tools that enable a more rational and efficient use of fertilizers. This approach aims to reduce their potential environmental impact by minimizing leachates, thus preventing the contamination of aquifers and water bodies.

El objetivo general del Grupo Operativo OSMAR se centra en la revalorización de efluentes cargados con materia orgánica en fertilizantes ecológicos para que se apliquen en cultivos hortícolas, mediante herramientas tecnológicas que permitan un uso más racional y eficiente de los fertilizantes, reduciendo su posible impacto ambiental a través de la reducción de los lixiviados y con ello, la contaminación de acuíferos y masas de agua.
Activities
The work plan consists of an initial documentation phase to establish a baseline, an experimental phase for the development of the pilot plant, fertilizer type, fertilization management protocol, and monitoring network, followed by its practical application and validation of the fertilizer. Additionally, there is a cross-cutting phase for project dissemination.

El plan de trabajo consta de una fase inicial documental para establecer un punto de partida, una fase experimental, para desarrollo de la planta piloto, tipo de fertilizante, protocolo de gestión del abonado y red de monitoreo, y finalmente su aplicación práctica y validación del fertilizante. Más una fase transversal de divulgación del proyecto.

The development of this Operational Group aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Eliminate the environmental impact of wastewater treatment with a high organic matter load. Through its treatment, the consequences of such effluents on society and the environment, mainly related to odor production and aquifer contamination, will be mitigated.
- Obtain more sustainable fertilizers for agriculture that are suitable for organic farming and reduce their loss through drainage.
- Improve the management of agricultural drainage by using ICT technologies that allow for knowledge of the existing nutrient levels to optimize their application, thus avoiding surpluses and the consequent contamination of bodies of water due to leachates.
- Improve soil management through organic farming systems, which will provide nutrients to the soil while improving its structure in a rational way.
- Reduce the need for agricultural inputs such as fertilizers by providing nutrients from sustainable raw materials, which will enhance crop nutrition while boosting their vigor and, consequently, their resilience and defense against pests and/or diseases, limiting the use of synthetic products.
Con el desarrollo de este GO se pretenden alcanzar los siguientes objetivos:
- Eliminar el impacto ambiental del tratamiento de aguas residuales con una alta carga en materia orgánica, mediante su tratamiento se conseguirá paliar las consecuencias que tienen este tipo de efluentes en la sociedad y en el medio ambiente relacionadas con la producción de olores y contaminación de acuíferos principalmente.
- Obtener fertilizantes más sostenibles para la agricultura, que sean aptos para el cultivo ecológico y que se reduzca su pérdida por drenaje.
- Mejorar la gestión del drenaje agrícola mediante el uso de tecnologías TIC que permita conocer la cantidad de nutrientes existentes para optimizar su aplicación y con ello, evitar los sobrantes y la consecuente contaminación de las masas de agua por lixiviados.
- Mejorar la gestión del suelo a través de los sistemas de cultivo ecológico que permitirán aportar nutrientes al suelo a la vez que se mejora su estructura de una manera racional.
- Reducir la necesidad del uso de insumos agrícolas como fertilizantes a través del aporte de nutrientes de materias primas sostenibles, que permitirán mejorar la nutrición de los cultivos a la vez que potencian su vigor y por tanto su capacidad de respuesta y de defensa frente a plagas y/o enfermedades, limitando el uso de productos de síntesis.
