The main objective of this innovation project is to develop and apply, in three pilot areas, a methodology to estimate carbon fixation by remote sensing in silvopastoral systems at a local scale, understanding the local scale as the management unit of these systems (municipality, community of pastures, public forest, etc.). This will subsequently allow for improved forest management with the aim of fixing more carbon and, ultimately, establishing the channels that enable the economic valuation of the fixed carbon stock.

El objetivo principal de este proyecto de innovación es desarrollar, y aplicar en tres zonas piloto, una metodología para estimar la fijación del carbono por teledetección en sistemas silvopastorales a escala local, entendiendo la escala local como la unidad de gestión de dichos sistemas (municipio, mancomunidad de pastos, monte público, etc.). Esto permitirá, posteriormente, mejorar la gestión de los montes con el objetivo de fijar más carbono y, en último término, establecer los canales que permitan valorizar económicamente el stock de carbono fijado.
