Improvement of feeding precision in dairy livestock feed through the use of novel sensor technology in the feed mixer before, during and after the mixing process of a Totalen Mixed ration (TMR): Due to changing weather conditions and increasing extreme climate conditions (heating periods or heavy precipitation), the dry matter content (TS) in the slicing area of silage is highly volatile. The fluctuating moisture content in the basic feed (grassage/maize silage) leads to inaccurate feed rations for the cows. These inaccuracies reduce feed efficiency and cause metabolic disorders in cows and inconsistent milk yields and ingredients. Moreover, the quantities of feed needed are difficult to plan, which may result in an empty trough or large feed residues. A homogenous feed mix avoids searching for individual feeding grounds, resulting in a more calm herd overall.
