Objectives
Farming systems for lactating sows have to be improved because of the expected expansion of legal requirements. The focus is on greater freedom of movement, which leads to a decrease in mortality of piglets. There have to be drawn up reconstruction proposals for practically suitable barns and bays for large, conventional farms. These proposals shall be presented by means of a pilot system to the broad farming practice. Further goals are the improvement of animal welfare in combination with consistent animal performance, the preservation of the efficiency (including labor economics), the ensuring work safety for the employees and to improve the social acceptance for conventional livestock farming.
Objectives
Die Haltungsverfahren für säugende Sauen müssen aufgrund absehbar steigender Gesetzesanforderungen weiterentwickelt werden. Der Fokus liegt auf der Steigerung des Platzangebots, was zu sinkender Ferkelsterblichkeit führen soll. Dafür sind praxisgeeignete Stall- und Buchtenumbauvorschläge für größere, konventionell arbeitende Betriebe zu erarbeiten und mittels einer Pilotanlage der Praxis zu präsentieren. Wichtige Ziele hierbei sind die Verbesserung der Tiergerechtheit bei gleichbleibender Leistung, der Erhalt der (Arbeits-)Wirtschaftlichkeit, die Gewährleistung der Arbeitssicherheit und eine verbesserte gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz für die konventionelle Tierhaltung.
