Kontext

2020–2023 bewies das EIP-Agri-Projekt „KI-Rebschnitt“: KI-gestützter Rebschnitt funktioniert. Jetzt wird das Verfahren automatisiert. Ein internationales Expertenteam entwickelt praxistaugliche Roboter-Prototypen, die zum Projektende praxiserprobt, zertifiziert und marktreif eingesetzt werden sollen.

Fachkräftemangel und Klimawandel bedrohen die Landwirtschaft:

Der Rebschnitt ist aufwändig, teuer und entscheidend für die Dauerkulturen. Fehlendes Fachpersonal und Zeitmangel erschweren die Arbeit. Gesunde, resilientere Pflanzen sind essenziell, um Klimawandel und Biodiversitätsverlust zu bekämpfen. Regelmäßiger, fachgerechter Schnitt fördert resiliente Weinberge und erhält Kulturlandschaften – eine dringende, ökologische Aufgabe.

2 Practice Abstracts

Automating Vine Pruning for Climate Resilience and Labor Shortages Vine pruning is one of the most demanding and critical tasks in viticulture—traditionally performed manually by skilled workers. However, labor shortages and climate change are intensifying these challenges.

Laser:viticulture harnesses AI and robotics to make viticulture more efficient and climate-friendly. The core innovation is a laser-based robotic cutting module mounted on overhead vineyard frames, ensuring safe laser containment. Automated vineyard management reduces costs, boosts efficiency, and addresses labor shortages. Prototypes are being developed to be field-tested, certified, and market-ready.

Der Rebschnitt ist eine der anspruchsvollsten und entscheidendsten Arbeiten im Weinbau – meist manuell von erfahrenem Personal durchgeführt. Doch Fachkräftemangel und Klimawandel verschärfen die Herausforderungen.

Laser:viticulture nutzt KI und Robotik, um den Weinbau effizienter und klimafreundlicher zu gestalten. Kerninnovation ist ein Laser-basiertes Schneidrobotermodul, das an Überzeilenrahmen montiert wird und den Laserstrahl sicher abschirmt. Die automatisierte Bewirtschaftung senkt Kosten, steigert Effizienz und bietet eine Antwort auf den Fachkräftemangel. Die Prototypen werden praxiserprobt, zertifiziert und marktreif entwickelt.

Laser:viticulture unterstützt gesunde Weinberge und bietet eine Lösung für den Fachkräftemangel und die Folgen des Klimawandels. Die Reben werden von einem Roboter mittels Laser sehr schnell und fachgerecht zum optimalen Zeitpunkt geschnitten und ausgedünnt. Dadurch können sie sich gesund und somit resilient entwickeln. Für den Winzer wird das Problem des Fachkräftemangels gelöst, darüber hinaus werden Zeit und Kosten gespart, Arbeitsplätze gesichert und die Lücke zwischen Forschung und Praxis geschlossen – Landwirtschaft 4.0 für mehr Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit.

Laser:viticulture supports healthy vineyards and offers a solution to the shortage of skilled workers and the consequences of climate change. The vines are pruned and thinned very quickly and professionally by a robot using lasers at the optimal time. This allows them to develop healthily and thus resiliently. For winegrowers, this solves the problem of skilled labor shortages, saves time and money, secures jobs, and closes the gap between research and practice—Agriculture 4.0 for greater efficiency and sustainability.
