Contexte

The short and medium-term challenges for the future include the environmental management of its waste and emissions, modernisation and diversification of its production processes, energy efficiency by reducing the biomass to coal conversion ratio, the application of new technologies, improving its commercial prospects, boosting its competitiveness and, in short, increasing the survival rate of charcoal producers in the Extremadura region in line with the decarbonisation targets set out in the Paris Agreements.

Objectives

This project is developing a prototype to enable the filtering and removal of smoke from charcoal production ovens in rural areas. The prototype is based on a smoke filtering and treatment system with washing and recovery of water that will be enriched and is expected to be suitable for the cultivation of microalgae. From these microalgae and other residues from charcoal production, natural products with fertilising properties will be obtained, which will be tested and validated on different crops, as well as on the soil of the pasture itself through agricultural trials designed for this purpose.

Objectives

Activities

Smoke filtering prototype design and development. By-products characterisation. Growing of microalgae from effluents. Validations test. Enviromental and economic analysis.

Activities

Disello y desarrollo de prototipo de filtrado de humos. Caracterización de subproductos. Cultivo de microalgas a partir de efluentes. Ensayos de validación. Análisis ambiental y económico.
