Kontext
Livestock farmers are obliged to regularly monitor the health and welfare of the animals on the farm. Due to the high effort required, there are major deficits in terms of animal welfare and health in the area of calf and young cattle husbandry, with potential effects on productivity and food quality.
Tierhaltende sind verpflichtet regelmäßig Gesundheit und Wohl der Tiere auf dem Betrieb zu kontrollieren. Auf Grund des hohen Aufwandes entstehen große Defizite bezüglich Tierwohls und Gesundheit im Bereich der Kälber- und Jungviehhaltung, mit potenziellen Auswirkungen auf Produktivität und Lebensmittelqualität.
Objectives
The aim of this project is to develop a laboratory model of a voice-controlled cell phone app for calves and young cattle that facilitates intuitive recording of the most important characteristics for health and welfare. This can reveal weak points in husbandry and management through an expert-supported analysis and serve to monitor progress. Subsequent recommendations form an important basis to prevent diseases and improve animal welfare. In this way, damage to animal health and thus animal welfare and economic consequences can be sustainably reduced. Young animals can become long-lived, productive cows and fattening animals do not die prematurely.
Objectives
Ziel dieses Projektes ist die Entwicklung eines Labormusters einer sprachgesteuerten Handy-App für Kälber- und Jungrinder, die eine intuitive Erfassung der wichtigsten Merkmale für Gesundheit und Wohlbefinden erleichtert. Diese kann Schwachstellen in Haltung und Management aufdecken und der Verlaufskontrolle dienen. Nachfolgende Handlungsempfehlungen bilden eine wichtige Grundlage zur Prävention von Erkrankungen und zur Steigerung des Tierwohls zu erarbeiten. So können gesundheitliche Schäden beim Tier und tierschutzrechtlich relevante und wirtschaftliche Folgen reduziert werden. Jungtiere können langlebige, leistungsfähige Kühe werden, Masttiere gehen nicht vorzeitig ab.
