GO AQUAFARM (Digitalización y control del flujo del agua para la evaluación de la huella hídrica y la productividad económica del agua en granjas de vacuno de leche).
Objectives
Determine the main contributions to water consumption in dairy farms, expressed as volumetric water footprint, as well as the impacts associated with the production of one kilogram of milk adjusted for fat and protein. This general objective is broken down into the following specific objectives:
1.Expand knowledge of water uses to consolidate integrated water resource management and minimize the impact of climate change.
2. Improve governance in water use management through the digitization of hydraulic networks.
3. Determine indicator parameters for water management.
4. Integrate and interpret data obtained from measurement devices

Activities
The project focuses on several key activities to ensure its success. It will begin with the overall coordination and management of the project, followed by the collection and analysis of previous experiences in the application of sensors and the digitization of the water cycle in the livestock sector. Next, the farms participating in the project will be selected and characterized to better understand their contexts. The project will then involve sensor installation, data collection, and calculation of the water footprint in these farms. Additionally, a provision and exploitation platform will be created to facilitate the use of the collected data.
Activities
El proyecto se centra en diversas actividades clave para asegurar su éxito. Comenzará con la coordinación y gestión general del proyecto, seguida de la recopilación y análisis de experiencias previas en la aplicación de sensores y la digitalización del ciclo del agua en el sector ganadero. Se procederá a la selección de las granjas que formarán parte del proyecto, así como a su caracterización para entender mejor sus contextos. Posteriormente, se llevará a cabo la sensorización, la toma de datos y el cálculo de la huella hídrica en estas granjas. Además, se creará una plataforma de provisión y explotación para facilitar el uso de los datos recopilados.

This project aims to promote the efficient and sustainable use of water, an essential resource for the livestock sector, whose scarcity would impact both the economy and the production of fundamental goods such as meat and milk. Its relevance is technical, economic, and environmental, as it would improve water use in dairy farms, ensuring the sustainability and continuity of this activity in rural areas. This impact will not only contribute to environmental preservation but also to strengthening local economies and retaining rural populations.
The project also aligns with the Innovation Strategy of Andalusia (RIS3) by promoting digitization, the use of sensors, and data processing, which contributes to the development of new agricultural processes that mitigate the effects of climate change in southern Spain. The impact will be visible not only in the participating farms but throughout the Andalusian territory, as the results will be implemented at the regional level, benefiting the agricultural and livestock sectors as a whole and enhancing sustainability and productivity.
Este proyecto busca promover el uso eficiente y sostenible del agua, un recurso esencial para el sector ganadero, cuya escasez afectaría tanto la economía como la producción de bienes fundamentales como carne y leche. Su relevancia es técnica, económica y ambiental, ya que mejoraría el uso del agua en las granjas de vacío de leche, asegurando la sostenibilidad y continuidad de esta actividad en zonas rurales. Este impacto no solo contribuirá a la preservación del medio ambiente, sino también al fortalecimiento de las economías locales y la fijación de la población rural.
