Objectives

Promote the establishment and development of grassland systems.
Food self-sufficiency and increased use of grass have been defined as technical assistance priorities for pastoralists, who express a need for technical solutions to cultivate, conserve and graze drought-resistant, productive and rich forage. in proteins.
In the continuity of multi species species trials carried out in 2014, this project will seek to determine if multi-species mixtures are more productive than the English / White Clover grass-grass meadow, if they allow a better response in milk. of the flock, and if they stand in time.

1 Practice Abstracts

Encourage the establishment and development of grassland systems through innovative and sustainable grazing techniques.

The Union of Dairy Producers Organizations (AOP Camembert of Normandy, Pont-l'Eveque and Livarot) groups 533 farms. This structure animates 5 OPs, promotes consultations and exchanges on issues common to the sector, the implementation of the specifications and the valuation of milk. Food self-sufficiency and increased use of grass have been defined as technical assistance priorities for pastoralists, who express a need for technical solutions to cultivate, conserve and graze drought-resistant, productive and rich forage. in proteins.

Multi-species grasslands address these issues. They allow savings in nitrogen fertilization, better distribution throughout the year, a more balanced food value, adaptation to soil heterogeneity and climate change. However, they remain little cultivated by the PDO farmers, because they require technicality.

In the continuity of multi species species trials carried out in 2014, this project will seek to determine if multi-species mixtures are more productive than the English / White Clover grass-grass meadow, if they allow a better response in milk. of the flock, and if they stand in time. The project will be centered around the sharing of experiences between breeders, with follow-up of the tests over the summer period. The creation of a guide to Normandy meadows and the establishment of multi-species grasslands is planned. This action will strengthen the autonomy and the link between breeders.
