Development of an organic fertilizer made from sheep whool
Entwicklung eines organischen Düngemittels aus Schafwolle (OG: Hydrowolle)
Objectives
The objective of the operational group was the development of an organic fertilizer product, based on an almost 100 % recycled ingredients of sheep wool by hydrolysis. The developed product should be used as an organic source of nutrients for plant nutrition in horticulture. The focus of the project was, beside a perfect conversion of the educt into an applicable suspension and analytic of the compounds, to investigate the appropriateness respectively suitability of the organic fertilizer in cultivation experiments.
Objectives
Das Ziel der Operationellen Gruppe war die Entwicklung eines ökologischen Düngerproduktes, basierend auf nahezu 100%-iger Rückgewinnung aller Inhaltsstoffe aus Schafwolle mittels Hydrolyse. Das entwickelte Produkt „wollbasierter Flüssigdünger“ soll als biologische Nährstoffquelle in der Pflanzenernährung für gartenbauliche Anwendungen verwendet werden. Im Vordergrund des Vorhabens stand daher, neben der einwandfreien Umwandlung des Ausgangsstoffes in eine geeignete Flüssigkeit sowie der Analytik der Inhaltsstoffe, auch die Überprüfung der Eignungsfähigkeit des Düngers im Rahmen von Anbauversuchen.
Activities
- Determination of a suitable wool fraction based on a theoretical and practical wool screening.
- Complete liquefaction of the educt (sheep wool) within the reaction agent water without any solid compounds for a direct application as fertilizer.
- Analysis of the promising composition of sheep wool and water to achieve the requirements for fertilizer use in hobby and professional horticulture.
- Determination of the appropriateness of the fertilizer within cultivation experiments.
Activities
- Ermittlung der vorteilhaften Wollfraktionen auf Basis eines theoretischen und praktischen Schurwollscreenings.
- Vollständige Verflüssigung des Ausgangsstoffes Schafwolle in dem Reaktionsmedium Wasser ohne feste Bestandteile für eine direkte Verwendung im Düngerbereich.
- Feststellung der aussichtsreichen Mischungsverhältnisse aus Schafwolle und Wasser zur Erfüllung der Anforderungen an den Dünger im Hobby- und Erwerbsgartenbau.
- Bestimmung der Eignungsfähigkeit des Düngers durch Anbauversuche.
