Objectives
100% organic feed – a challenge we can solve
There is currently more than one million organic laying hens, equivalent to 14 & of the total number of laying hens. The lack of organic production at sufficient level of the proteins that the hens need is a challenge.
Mussels have a lower fat content compared to fish meal, and therefore mussels have a lower dioxin content per kilogram protein. Trials feeding poultry protein feed made of mussels have shown very positive results.

Idag finns det över 1 miljon ekologiska värphöns i Sverige, vilket motsvarar 14 % av totala antalet värphöns. En utmaning är att det idag inte finns tillräckligt stor ekologisk produktion av de proteiner som fjäderfän behöver.
Mussla har en lägre fetthalt jämfört med fiskmjöl och därför har mussla en lägre dioxinhalt per kg protein. Försök där fjäderfä har utfodrats med proteinfoder från mussla har visat mycket positiva resultat.
Activities
- Market activities; product demonstrations, recipe, customer events and information for print and social media
- Advice about the best way to use mussel meal for feed purposes at the farm
- Advice and follow-up about the product, in cooperation with the producers paticipating int the project.
- Egg production. In phase one manual feeding in order to optimize egg quality, animal health and sustainability. In phase two automatixation of the feeding process.

Activities
- Marknadsaktiviteter; demonstration av produkten, recept, kundevent och material till tryck och sociala medier
- Rådgivning om hur användning och utfodring av musselmjöl lämpligast ska ske ute på gården.
- Produktionsrådgivning och produktionsuppföljning tillsammans med producenterna som deltar i projektet.
- Äggproduktion
I steg 1 :Utfodringen sker manuellt för att hitta optimal äggkvalité, djurhälsa och hållbarhet. I steg 2 sker en automatisering av utfodringen. - Processutveckling
