Objectives
Informing and activating all 150 bulb growers in the Dune and Bulb Region, so that they can take measures to reduce the farmyard emission of crop protection products on their companies, with the aim of improving the quality of the surface water.
By transferring knowledge via mailings, professional articles, demonstrations and coaching on request, all bulb growers gain insight into the farmyard emission on their company and can start implementing business and behavioural adjustments and possibly investments. Thirty companies in three grower groups are guided even more intensively: they reduce their farmyard emission of crop protection products by at least 80%.
Objectives
Het informeren en activeren van alle 150 bollentelers in de Duin- en Bollenstreek, zodat zij maatregelen kunnen nemen om de erfemissie van gewasbeschermingsmiddelen op hun bedrijven terug te dringen, met als doel de kwaliteit van het oppervlaktewater te verbeteren.
Door kennisoverdracht via mailings, vakartikelen, demonstraties en coaching op aanvraag krijgen alle bollentelers inzicht in de erfemissie op hun bedrijf en kunnen aan de slag met implementatie van bedrijfs- en gedragsaanpassingen en eventueel investeringen. Dertig bedrijven worden in drie telersgroepen nog intensiever begeleid: zij brengen hierdoor hun erfemissie van gewasbeschermingsmiddelen met tenminste 80% terug.
Activities
The core group of 30 growers will actually take measures on the farm. Their experiences and the bottlenecks they encounter are very valuable for other bulb growers in the area. These 30 growers are the ambassadors of the project. Together with them, and by communicating about their experiences, we will stimulate and activate the other bulb growers (approx. 110) in the area to also take measures.
We do this by asking them to complete the farm emission scan, sending newsletters with personal experiences of the core group, by annual demonstrations where the core team shares their experiences and by growers from the core team contributing their experiences to bulb study groups...
Activities
De kerngroep van 30 telers gaat daadwerkelijk maatregelen nemen op het erf. Hun ervaringen en knelpunten waar ze tegen aan lopen zijn zeer waardevol voor andere bollentelers in het gebied. Deze 30 telers vormen de ambassadeurs van het project. Samen met hen, en door communicatie over hun ervaringen, gaan we de andere bollentelers (ca. 110) in het gebied stimuleren en activeren ook maatregelen te nemen.
Dit doen we o.a. door hen te vragen de erfemissiescan in te vullen, nieuwsbrieven te sturen met persoonlijke ervaringen van de kerngroep, door jaarlijkse demonstraties waarbij het kernteam hun ervaringen deelt en doordat telers vanuit het kernteam hun ervaringen inbrengen in bollen-studiegroepen...

1 Practice Abstracts
Three groups of bulb growers were recruited, with whom start-up and follow-up meetings were held to point out the risks of yard emissions, particularly during the disinfection season. This risk was made concrete by taking samples from their yard wells. A few bulb growers then invested in: construction of a washing area for the sprayer; purification for residual bulb bath and washing water from the sprayer; disinfected barrels within stables (possibly expanding the roof); collection of yard water and reuse in the forcing house, etc.
All other bulb growers in the South Holland part of Rijnland were informed via a mailing from the KAVB, a telephone round by the KAVB and news reports in local newspapers and trade journals.
Er zijn 3 groepen bollentelers geworven waarmee start- en vervolgbijeenkomsten zijn gehouden om hen te wijzen op de risico's van erfemissie, met name in het ontsmetseizoen. Met monsternames vanuit hun erfputten is dit risico concreet gemaakt. Enkele bollentelers hebben daarna geinvesteerd in: aanleg van een wasplaats voor de spuit; zuivering voor restant bollenbad en waswater van de spuit; ontsmet fust binnen stallen (evt. uitbreiding overkapping); opvang van erfwater en hergebruik in de broeierij etc.
Alle andere bollentelers in het Zuid-Hollandse deel van Rijnland zijn geinformeerd via een mailing van de KAVB, een belronde door de KAVB en nieuwsberichten in plaatselijke kranten en vakblad.
