Objectives

This project aims to test introduction of camelina as a combination plant with pea cultivation.  The cultivation of peas has been neglected to thisday despite its potential, in particular due to the drop in yields. Camelina has considerable advantages, it's high added value sector and however remains marginal. This project therefore proposes to evaluate the association of these two cultures in the region based on field observations, results from Unilasalle and the state of current knowledge. In agroecological approach, agronomic, socio-economic and environmental performances wil be evaluated. Experimental trials at different scales will be carried out with farmers and the Natup cooperative.

Objectives

Ce projet a pour objectif de tester l'introduction de la caméline comme plante d'association avec la culture de pois. La culture de pois s'avère délaissée à ce jour. La caméline présente des atouts considérables, il s'agit d'une filière à haute valeur ajoutée. Ce projet se propose donc d'évaluer l'association de ces deux cultures dans la région en se basant sur les observations terrains, les résultats d'Unilasalle et l'état des connaissances actuelles. Dans une approche agroécologique, les performances agronomiques, socio-économiques et environnementales seront évaluées. Les essais expérimentaux à différentes échelles seront menés avec des agriculteurs et la coopérative Natup.

Action 1: socio-economic evaluation: feedback on experiences based on surveys of farmers and cooperatives.                                                 

Action 2: agronomic evaluation: comparative pea alone/ camelina alone / pea and camelina combination trials in experimental plots : evaluation of agronomic performance.                                                                       

Action 3: plant-microorganism interaction: comparison pea alone/ camelina alone/ pea and camelina combination: test in experimental plots. Evaluation of microbial communities, effects on pathogenic dynamics.      

Action 4: valorisation of communication knowledge: with farmers, students from Unilasalle, seminars and the general public.
