Objectives
● The conversion of 30 hectares of Robinia forest to a bOER forest, where animal-friendly and sustainable food can be produced with a healthy financial yield.
● Production of food without the use of (artificial) manure, pesticides and machinery.

● De omvorming van 30 hectare Robinia bos naar een bOERbos, waar diervriendelijk en duurzaam voedsel kan worden geproduceerd met bovendien een gezonde financiële opbrengst.
● Productie van voedsel zonder gebruik van (kunst)mest, bestrijdingsmiddelen en machines.
Activities
● The conversion of a wood production forest to a food forest takes place according to a step-by-step plan. This includes: the removal of unwanted species in the soil layer with the help of pigs, restoration of indigenous plant communities, reintroduction of pigs, cattle and sheep by means of a rotation system, in which the vegetation is only slightly disturbed. Due to the absence of disruption, there is plenty of room for growth,
● The conversion of an existing forest to a bore forest is monitored. Ecologists help with plant choice and advice is sought from consultants in the field of natural agriculture.
● The laws and regulations that come with Boerbossen will also be examined.

● De omvorming van een houtproductiebos naar een voedselbos geschiedt volgens een stappenplan. Dat behelst: het verwijderen van ongewenste soorten in de bodemlaag met hulp van varkens, herstel van inheemse plantengemeenschappen, herintroductie van varkens, runderen en schapen middels een rotatiesysteem, waarbij de vegetatie alleen licht verstoord wordt. Door het ontbreken van verstoring is er alle ruimte voor groei,
● De omvorming van een bestaand bos naar een bOERbos wordt gemonitord. Ecologen helpen bij de plantkeuze en er wordt advies ingewonnen van adviseurs op het gebied van natuurlijke landbouw.
● Ook wordt de wet- en regelgeving die bij Boerbossen komt kijken wordt onderzocht.
Context
Boerbossen zijn bestaande houtproductiebossen die worden omgevormd tot bossen waarin naast hout, ook voedsel wordt geproduceerd. Het is landbouw inclusieve natuur waarbij de nadruk ligt op een natuurlijk systeem, dat ook voedsel levert voor mens en dier.
De projecttitel bOERbos komt voort uit de inspiratie van de oerbossen uit vroegere tijden.
Additional comments
De eerste plantronde is gepland in het voorjaar van 2018.
De methode om de houtproductiebossen om te vormen naar voedselproductie met een hogere biodiversiteit is gebaseerd op de methode van Mark Shepard, auteur van het boek Herstellende landbouw.
