Wolfgang Burtscher, Director-General of DG Agriculture and Rural Development, European Commission: “Knowledge sharing and innovation play a key role in accelerating the green and digital transition for agri-food systems, preserving and restoring biodiversity and fighting climate change while keeping farming viable and contributing to thriving rural areas.”

This is how the Director-General opened the EU CAP Network seminar entitled 'Fostering an effective and integrated Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) in Member States'. The aim of the event was to support EU Member States in the implementation of their AKIS Strategic Plans, namely by promoting efficient knowledge and innovation flows across the EU. The event focused on exchanging experiences and inspiring examples to help organise and support effective knowledge creation and knowledge exchange between all AKIS actors.

The event took place on 14-15 June 2023 in Vilnius (Lithuania) and was hosted by the Lithuanian AKIS cluster. 150 people took part, including representatives of AKIS Coordination Bodies, CAP Managing Authorities and national CAP networks and advisors.

Videos of all of the presentations made during this seminar are available on the event webpage, including Mr Burtscher’s opening address. Participants already shared experiences in preparation for discussions during the event and the summaries of their inputs can be downloaded on the same page. You can also find the programme, the participants' list, profiles of the speakers, powerpoint presentations, a selection of photos and more.

Read a short report presenting the key takeaway messages from the seminar. A full report on this seminar will be available later this year.
