    Summary

    Herxen is a 400-inhabitant hamlet in the Netherlands. The village hall is essential for the local community as it is the only place they can meet and organise joint activities. It is owned and maintained by a local non-profit foundation who applied for LEADER measure funds to modernise and diversify the building whilst also making it more accessible and resilient.

    Results

    • The modernised village hall is better equipped to host events for the community.
    • The facility’s longer-term resilience has been reinforced.
    • This project has provided security for two jobs.
    • Hall heating costs have been reduced by around 15%.
