Viljankuivauksen sivutuotteen kierto materiaalina ja energiana (VILSKE)

Hankkeen tarkoituksena on keskittyä tuottajille ongelmallisen viljankuivauksesta syntyvän tähdemateriaalin hyödyntämismahdollisuuksien löytämiseen ja -toiminnan testaamiseen Keski-Suomessa. Hankkeen innovaatiotoiminta sekä konkreettinen koe- ja testaustoiminta mittauksineen tuottavat oleellista tietoa raaka-aineiden ominaisuuksista ja käsittelystä, kannattavuudesta sekä ympäristökestävyydestä alkutuottajille, biomassan jalostajille sekä opetukseen ja tutkimukseen. Viljankuivauksen tähde on kuivaa ja yhteen paikkaan kerättyä yleensä kuljetusvalmista materiaalia, jonka hyödyntämistä sekä materiaalina että energiana halutaan selvittää tarkemmin. Tuotantoeläinten kuivikkeiden markkinat ovat muuttumassa. Perinteistä turvetta ja puupurua ei Luonnonvarakeskuksen selvitysten mukaan ole välttämättä aiempaan tapaan ole saatavissa. Markkinoille kaivataan uusia biopohjaisia materiaaleja, joihin viljelytoiminnasta ja tuotannosta syntyvät tähteet ja sivutuotteet ovat selvitettävä vaihtoehto. Uutta hyötykäyttötoimintaa sisältävä kiertotalouden ratkaisu tukee myös eri maatalouden toimijoiden ja yritysten yhteistyötä. Kuivikekäytön jälkeen materiaalille voi edelleen olla hyötykäyttömahdollisuuksia, koska se sisältää energiaa sekä ravinteita. Potentiaalia voi olla biokaasun tuotannon syötteenä tai biolämmön tuotannossa, minkä jälkeen edelleen lannoituskäytössä.

The purpose of the project is to focus on finding and testing the utilization possibilities of residue material from grain drying, which is problematic for producers. The project's investigations and concrete testing activities with measurements produce essential information about the properties and processing of raw materials, profitability and environmental sustainability for primary producers, biomass processors, and for teaching and research. The residue of grain drying is dry material collected in one place, the utilization of which both as material and as energy is to be investigated in more detail.The bedding market for production animals is currently changing. Traditional peat and saw dust are not necessarily available as raw materials as in the past. New bio-based materials are needed for the market, for which residues and by-products from farming and production are an alternative to be explored. A circular economy solution that includes new utilization activities also supports the cooperation of different agricultural actors and companies. After litter use, the material may still have potential uses, as it contains energy and nutrients. There may be potential as an input for biogas production or in the production of bioheat, after which it can still be used as fertilizer. In addition to the previous benefits, the operation of the project also supports the reliability of heat production in sparsely populated areas and the management of environmental impacts.
