Water scarcity and declining groundwater levels are becoming critical challenges for agriculture in Eastern Bavaria. At the same time, there is a lack of reliable data for permits and water management. This project aims to develop a digital system for the sustainable use and reuse of water. Farmers, authorities, and other stakeholders will be connected through a new regional water association to manage water fairly, efficiently, and sustainably. This reduces bureaucracy, improves approval processes, and creates planning security. By forming a regional water association, water users can coordinate their needs, explore alternative water sources like rainwater or treated water, and jointly respond to climate challenges. For practitioners, this means better data, smarter decisions, and more reliable access to irrigation. Economically, this can result in more stable yields, lower administrative costs, and more efficient use of water. A practical guide will be developed to show how farms can benefit from water reuse and improve their resilience.
