Objectives
The aim of the project is to ensure the sustainable regional agricultural use of the fermentation products, taking into account the legal and conceptual requirements. The properties of the fermentation product concerning application logistics and the effects on crop production in the annual cycle will be determined and acceptance for the application of liquid fertilizers among farmers and the public will be created.
Activities
Due to the innovatively designed plant configuration, there is no practical experience with regard to the physical properties, the achievable fertilizing effect as well as the application of the resulting fermentation products with the necessary application techniques close to the ground.

1 Practice Abstracts
The liquid fertilizer produced from organic waste in the innovative biomass fermentation plant of Rhein-Hunsrück-Entsorgung (RHE) was to be evaluated in its regional agricultural application with regard to technical, logistical, plant cultivation, ecological, economic and acceptance-promoting aspects. Four application campaigns showed that the technical and logistical requirements for the liquid fertilizer are comparable to those for agricultural liquid manure. In fertilization trials, the combination of organic and mineral fertilization proved to be the best option in terms of yield stability and plant cultivation possibilities. The use of liquid fertilizer is interesting both in terms of greenhouse gas savings and the economic benefits for the farmers involved. The overall regional approach of the RHE is highly accepted both in agriculture and by the public. The legal limits for pollutants are adhered to, the nutrient content is sufficient and the logistics run smoothly. In addition, no complaints about odors were registered. The encapsulated transport and the application close to the lagoon in combination with the low odor potential of the liquid fermentation product has proven to be successful.
