Activities

The aim of this project is to increase the resilience and production efficiency of the Scottish herd by piloting the Livestock Performance Programme (LPP) with sixteen beef suckler herds. This pilot is innovative in that it will enable a Livestock Performance Statement (LPS) concept to be developed and tested by benchmarking production efficiency using underutilised industry owned data – see appendix 1. The proposition will then be developed through farmer feedback to meet the long-term vision of a viable project fit for national roll out that works to ensure the cattle industry in Scotland is producing every kg of beef in the most efficient way possible.
