Activities

During and after the completion of the project, the following deliverables are expected:

— Literature review on the application and impact of the organic soil improver

— Practical experience of producing and using the organic soil improver

— A design of Fieldlab highlighting the urgency of improving soil organic matter content

— A design of Fieldlab with a good combination of practical and theoretical aspects surrounding the production and application of the organic soil improver.


Activities

Tijdens en na afronding van het project worden de volgende prestaties verwacht:

- Literatuurstudie rondom de toepassing en het effect van de organische bodemverbeteraar

- Een handreiking met praktische ervaringen rondom het produceren en gebruiken van de organische bodemverbeteraar

- Een ontwerp fieldlab waarbij de urgentie rondom het verbeteren van het organische stofgehalte in de bodem wordt uitgedragen

- Een ontwerp fieldlab met een goede combinatie van praktische en theoretische aspecten rondom het produceren en toepassen van de organische bodemverbeteraar.

1 Practice Abstracts

Trigger: The organic matter content in Dutch soils has not been increasing for many years. This has the necessary negative impact on sustainable land use and related topics, including biodiversity, climate resilience and nutrient leaching and leaching.

In Groningen and Friesland, 3 dairy farmers found each other in their vision that healthy soils lead to a healthy future for dairy farming. At the heart of this is the achievement of sustainable soil and the implementation of sustainable soil management. Their approach is to produce organic soil improvers through innovations on their farms.

Objective: The aim of this project is to design a Fieldlab that eventually collects knowledge and conducts research into solutions for getting and keeping the thick fraction of (primary) segregated dairy cattle test, including by facilitating and demonstrating on-site application of various solutions, so that knowledge and experiences are shared with colleagues, decision-makers, public authorities, advisors and industry. In addition, the impact of the application of the soil improver will be investigated. What exactly does producing this organic soil improver have for added value?

How: When designing the Fieldlab “solid manure pile”, they join forces to describe, explore and work on solutions, in cooperation with competent educational, research and knowledge institutes and agro-advisers, in order to apply, validate and promote knowledge of the Fieldlab at the end of the design phase when the Fieldlab is implemented.

Aanleiding: Het organische stofgehalte in Nederlandse bodems neemt al jaren niet meer toe. Dit heeft de nodige nadelige gevolgen voor duurzaam bodemgebruik en daarmee samenhangende onderwerpen, waaronder biodiversiteit, klimaatweerbaarheid en uit- en afspoeling van nutriënten.

In Groningen en Friesland hebben 3 melkveehouders elkaar gevonden in hun visie dat een gezonde bodem leidt naar een gezonde toekomst voor de melkveehouderij. Centraal daarbij staat het realiseren van een duurzame bodem en het voeren van duurzaam bodembeheer. Hun aanpak is om middels innovaties op hun bedrijven organische bodemverbeteraars te produceren.

Doel: Doel van dit project is om een fieldlab te ontwerpen waarin uiteindelijk kennis wordt verzameld en onderzoek wordt uitgevoerd naar oplossingen voor het stapelbaar krijgen en houden van de dikke fractie van (primair) gescheiden melkveemest, onder andere door op locatie toepassing van diverse oplossingen te faciliteren en te demonstreren, zodat kennis en ervaringen worden gedeeld met collega’s, beslissers, overheden, adviseurs en bedrijfsleven. Daarnaast zal de impact rondom de toepassing van de bodemverbeteraar worden onderzocht. Wat heeft het produceren van deze organische bodemverbeteraar precies voor meerwaarde?

Hoe: Bij het ontwerpen van het fieldlab ‘Stapel op vaste mest’ bundelen zij de krachten om in samenwerking met ter zake kundige onderwijs-, onderzoek- kennisinstellingen en agro-adviseurs de problematiek van het stapelbaar krijgen en houden van vaste mest te beschrijven, te verkennen en naar oplossingen toe te werken, om deze op termijn bij realisatie van het fieldlab na afloop van de ontwerpfase toe te passen, te valideren en kennis daarover uit te dragen.
