Objectives

The innovation project pursues a new approach to determine the actual drought stress and irrigation demand on the plant directly by measuring the stock‘s temperature. The evaporation cools down the stocks, so that the temperature on the plant’s surface is few degrees cooler than the ambient temperature. Insufficient water supply causes stress, which reduces the transpiration of the plant and generates a higher stock‘s temperature. Within the scope of the project the temperature differences will be recorded by using an infrared thermographic in order to optimize the irrigation management of the plants.
