Objectives

The project  is divided into two main research components:

  • Implementation of technological processes for the production of tannin extracts from the stem and skin of grapes and the technological process for the production of oil from the grapeseed. Research aim is the quantity and chemical composition of plant extracts for different grape varieties and different harvesting periods. 
  • Implementation of the use of micro-digesters on three different production farms, monitoring the intake of plant material and the amount of biogas produced. The conducted research will be accompanied by an economic study that will analyze the profitability of investment in micro-digesters at the level of family farms. 

Objectives

Projekt se dijeli se na dvije glavne istraživačke komponente:

  • Implementacija tehnoloških procesa proizvodnje taninskih ekstrakata iz peteljke i kožice grožđa te tehnološki proces proizvodnje ulja iz špice. Predmet istraživanja su količina i kemijski sastav biljnih ekstrakata za različite sorte grožđa i različite periode branja.
  • Implementacija korištenja mikro-digestora na tri različita proizvodna gospodarstva, pri čemu se prati unos biljnog materijala i količina dobivenog bioplina. Provedeno istraživanje će pratiti ekonomska studija koja će analizirati isplativost ulaganja u mikro-digestore na nivou OPG-gospodarstava.

Activities

A1:
- Selection of small scale anaerobic digesters and field placement
- Supply of various plant waste materials
- Biogas and digestate collection

A2:
- Collecting the pomace of several indigenous grape varieties, partial fermentation of the pomace and separation of grape seeds
- Implementation of drying and cold pressing of seeds and grinding of flour

A3:
- Collecting grape stalks and pomace with extracted seeds
- Freezing, storage and grinding of plant material
- Extraction of tannin from the pomace on an ethanol extractor

All activities end with a chemical analysis of the output products, processing of the collected data and preparation of a business plan / investment study. 

Activities

A1:
- Odabir mini anaerobnih digestora i postavljanje na terenu 
- Dobava raznih biljnih otpadnih materijala 
- Prikupljanje bioplina i digestata 

A2:
- Prikupljanje komine više autohtonih sorti grožđa, djelomična fermentacija komine i odvajanje sjemenki grožđa 
- Provedba sušenja i hladnog prešanja sjemenki te mljevenje brašna 

A3:
- Prikupljanje peteljki grožđa i komine s izdvojenim sjemenkama 
- Zamrzavanje, skladištenje i mljevenje biljnog materijala
- Ekstrakcija tanina iz komine na etanolskom ekstraktoru

Sve aktivnosti završavaju kemijskom analizom izlaznih proizvoda, obradom prikupljenih podataka te izradom poslovog plana/investicijske studije.

1 Practice Abstracts

The main expected result of the operational group is the utilization of plant waste through anaerobic digestion and the utilization of by-products in wine production (grape pomace, stalks and seeds)

The first expected result is the implementation of a mini anaerobic digestion system on small farms in order to obtain digestate which is a high quality low carbon organic fertilizer used further in agricultural production and biogas used on the farm for either household or economic activity. During the project, various plant residues and various organic fertilizers will be used to detect the optimal composition and ratio of input elements related to the quality of output.

Another expected result of the project is the development of new product from by-products in wine production, which is planned through two related activities of grape pomace processing. The first activity is related to the use of grape seeds for oil and flour production from grape seeds. Through the project the impact of the assortment on the quality of output products will be analyzed. The second activity is related to the extraction of tannins from grape stalks and pomace (without seeds) and the aim is to investigate the quality and quantity of the extract in three cases: in the extraction of only pomace, only stalks and combinations of stalks and pomace. The introduction of new products, which do not belong to the standard product range, will increas the competitiveness of winemakers and provides additional revenue as well as market recognition.

A business plan / investment study will be developed for all three technologies in order to promote and facilitate the decision to introduce these technologies into standard production of agricultural producers.

Glavni očekivani rezultat operativne skupine je iskorištavanje biljnog otpada kroz anaerobnu digestiju te iskorištavanje nusprodukata u proizvodnji vina (komina od grožđa, peteljke i sjemene)

Prvi očekivani rezultat je implementacija sustava mini anaerobne digestije na malim poljoprivrednim gospodarstvima u svrhu dobivanja digestata koji predstavlja visoko kvalitetno nisko ugljično organsko gnojivo koje se koristi dalje u poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji te bio-plina koji se iskorištava na poljoprivredom gospodarstvu bilo za kućanstvo ili za gospodarsku aktivnost. Tokom projekta će se koristit razni biljni ostatci i razno organsko gnojivo kako bi se detektirao optimalni sastav i omjer ulaznih elemenata vezanih uz kvalitetu outputa.

Drugi očekivan rezultat projekta je razvoj novih proizvoda od nusproizvoda u proizvodnji vina koja se planira kroz dvije vezane aktivnosti obrade komine grožđa. Prva aktivnost se veže na iskorištavanje sjemenki grožđa kroz uvođenje proizvodnja ulja i brašna iz sjemenki grožđa a kroz sam projekt će se analizirati utjecaj sortimenta na kvalitetu izlaznih proizvoda.  Druga aktivnost se veže na ekstrakcija tanina iz peteljki i komine grožđa (bez sjemenki) a cilj je istražiti kvalitetu i kvantitetu ekstrakta u tri slučaja to jest kod ekstrakcije samo komine, samo peteljki i kombinacije peteljki i komine. Uvođenjem novih proizvoda, koji ne spadaju u standardni asortiman, povećava se konkurentnosti vinara  te osiguravaju dodatne prihode kao i prepoznatljivost na tržištu.

Za sve tri tehnologije će se izraditi poslovni plan / investicijska studija kako bi se promovirala i olakšala odluka za uvođenje ovih tehnologija u standardnu proizvodnju poljoprivrednih proizvođača.
