Context

Objectives

Developing new low-threshold digital information products for growers that give them better insight into the moisture needs of crops. A prototype task map is being delivered that maps the moisture requirements of the crops on a site-specific basis and automatically controls the irrigation system in the field.

Objectives

Activities

This project focuses on the linking of data technology and more efficient control of the irrigation installations of arable farmers. Collected (historical) data from Dacom and Irriwatch models are analyzed and datasets and models are linked to arrive at prototype algorithms. The developed prototypes will be tested in practice by the participating arable farmers during the growing seasons of 2023 and 2024. Some of these growers' plots will be fitted with soil moisture sensors and rain gauges so that the moisture situation at various locations in the soil and the precipitation can be measured continuously.

Activities
