Activities

Design of a “Fieldlab” for the development of agroforestry, focusing on the contribution and integration of woody crops into farming systems (dairy farming, arable farming). A Fieldlab that innovates and shows the contribution of agroforestry to (i) production/balance (including mitigation at weather extremes), natural pest regulation and animal health and (ii) the provision of climate, water, biodiversity-related (including N-capture) and landscape services, etc. Base is the location in Zeeland (municipality of Maashorst, province of North Brabant) with extensive research and information facilities; area-based connection to North Brabant’s transition declarations (NPLG/BPLG) and more widely applicable to sandy soils in the Netherlands in particular

Ontwerp van een ‘fieldlab’ voor de ontwikkeling van agroforestry, met een focus op de bijdrage en integratie van houtige gewassen in landbouwsystemen (melkveehouderij, akkerbouw). Een fieldlab waarin wordt geïnnoveerd en waarbij de bijdrage van agroforestry aan (i) productie/saldo (incl. risicodemping bij weersextremen), natuurlijke plaagregulatie en diergezondheid en (ii) het leveren van klimaat-, water-, biodiversiteits (o.a. N-afvang)- en landschapsdiensten etc, wordt onderbouwd en zichtbaar gemaakt. Basis vormt de locatie in Zeeland (gemeente Maashorst, provincie Noord-Brabant) met uitgebreide faciliteiten voor onderzoek en voorlichting; gebiedsgerichte aansluiting bij de transitieopgaven van Noord-Brabant (NPLG/BPLG) en breder toepasbaar voor vooral de zandgronden in Nederland

1 Practice Abstracts

- Design of a 'fieldlab' for the development of agroforestry, with a focus on the contribution and integration of woody crops in agricultural systems (dairy farming, arable farming).
