1 Practice Abstracts

Permanent grassland is a defining feature of the agricultural landscape in Germany and Hesse. It enriches the environment with a variety of ecological, social, and economic functions. Currently, there is a decline in permanent grassland areas, which can be attributed to various causes. These include, for example, changes in agricultural structure, improper maintenance, climate change, and the spread of invasive species.The project is developing an innovative technology that combines drone technology, sensor technology, and artificial intelligence to enable targeted and sustainable maintenance of grassland areas. The focus is on non-chemical control of unwanted plant species, which promotes both the preservation of biodiversity and the protection of water and soil. The use of autonomous, selective robots can support agriculture in the more efficient management of permanent grassland areas while ensuring compliance with ecological requirements. Special innovations of the project include the monitoring of problem and indicator species, the integration of artificial intelligence for the targeted control of problematic plant species, and the development of a control me

Derzeit ist ein Rückgang der ökologisch wichtigen Dauergrünlandflächen in Deutschland zu beobachten, der auf verschiedene Ursachen zurückzuführen ist. Dazu zählen unter anderem beispielsweise Veränderungen in der Agrarstruktur, unsachgemäße Pflege, der Klimawandel sowie die Ausbreitung invasiver Arten. Das Projekt entwickelt eine innovative Technologie, die Drohnentechnik, Sensorik, und künstlicher Intelligenz miteinander verbindet, um eine gezielte und nachhaltige Pflege von Grünlandflächen zu ermöglichen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die nicht-chemische Bekämpfung unerwünschter Pflanzenarten, was sowohl den Erhalt der Biodiversität als auch den Schutz von Wasser und Boden fördert. Der Einsatz autonomer, selektiv arbeitender Roboter kann die Landwirtschaft bei der effizienteren Bewirtschaftung von Dauergrünlandflächen unterstützen und gewährleistet gleichzeitig die Einhaltung ökologischer Anforderungen. Besondere Neuerungen des Projekts sind das gezielte Monitoring von Problem- und Kennarten, die Integration künstlicher Intelligenz zur gezielten Bekämpfung problematischer Pflanzenarten sowie die Entwicklung einer Bekämpfungsmethode am Beispiel des giftigen Jakobskreuzkrauts.
