Objectives

Angler cattle are an old breed of cattle from northern Germany. It has been bred in the Schleswig-Holstein region of Angeln since 1830. Like all old domestic animal breeds, the Angler cattle is an important genetic resource that should be preserved. The aim of the project is to identify and record the breed's characteristics with regard to climate efficiency and nutrient efficiency in order to formulate strategies that can increase the competitiveness of Angler cattle.

Objectives

Das Angler Rind ist eine alte norddeutsche Rinderrasse. Im schleswig-holsteinischen Landesteil Angeln wird es seit 1830 planmäßig gezüchtet. Wie alle alten Haustierrassen ist auch das Angler Rind eine wichtige genetische Ressource, die erhalten werden sollte. Das Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Eigenschaften der Rasse im Hinblick auf Klimaeffizienz und Nährstoffeffizienz zu erkennen und zu erfassen, um daraus Strategien zu formulieren, die die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Angler Rinds steigern können.

Activities

Tasks in the project are the expansion of the investigation of the genome of the cattle, the status quo survey on the status of digitization and animal health, analyses of milk samples as well as genome-wide association studies in the areas of animal welfare, animal health, climate and nutrient efficiency.

Activities

Aufgaben im Projekt sind der Ausbau der Untersuchung des Genoms des Rinds, die Status-quo-Erhebung zum Stand der Digitalisierung und der Tiergesundheit, Analysen von Milchproben sowie genomweite Assoziationsstudien in den Bereichen Tierwohl, Tiergesundheit, Klima- und Nährstoffeffizienz.
