Modernisation of a strawberry farm

A farm used RDP support to acquire new machinery in order to improve its strawberry production and increase its profitability.

    Summary

    The main activity of Robertas Šerpytis farm is berry growing. But his equipment was outdated and inefficient. New equipment was needed to meet the EU requirements, as well as to increase labour productivity, reduce production costs, and overall increase the farm’s income. Support from the Lithuanian rural development programme helped the farmer to purchase a new tractor, hanging sprayer, grass reversible shredder and trailer.

    Results

    The revenue from sales increased from EUR 32 236 to EUR 35 520.

    Net profitability increased from 18.40% to 13.37%.

    The economic value of the holding expressed in terms of the standard value of production, increased from EUR 33 266 to EUR 43 091.
