The Project has defined a sustainable procurement plan for the forest-wood supply chain, thus ensuring sustainable and long-lasting management of public forest properties, as well as quantifying the sequestration of carbon in biomass and soil in the different pedological environments and in the different ways of use of the woods. Furthermore, it has improved the knowledge of the effects of forest uses on the quality of organic matter and the biological quality of the soils of state-owned forests, understanding the advantages and disadvantages on the ecosystem services provided by the forest in the various methods of forest use applied in the demonstration sites, favoring the increasing the level of mechanization and operation of local forestry enterprises and increasing the level of efficiency of forestry operators; finally, it has carried out communication actions appropriate to the market and to the companies of the results in terms of dissemination of knowledge, making the values of sustainable management of state-owned forests known to a broad public in terms of maintenance/improvement of the ecosystem services they provide and improvement of the efficiency of on-site operations.
Il Progetto ha definito un piano di approvvigionamento sostenibile per la filiera foresta-legno, garantendo così una gestione sostenibile e duratura delle proprietà boschive pubbliche, oltre a quantificare il sequestro di carbonio nella biomassa e nel suolo nei diversi ambienti pedologici e nelle diverse modalità di utilizzo dei boschi. Inoltre ha migliorato le conoscenze degli effetti delle utilizzazioni forestali sulla qualità della sostanza organica e della qualità biologica dei suoli dei boschi demaniali, comprendendo i vantaggi e svantaggi sui servizi ecosistemici forniti dal bosco nelle varie modalità di utilizzazioni forestali applicate nei cantieri dimostrativi, favorendo l'aumento del livello di meccanizzazione ed operatività delle imprese forestali locali e incrementando il livello di efficienza degli operatori forestali; infine ha svolto azioni di comunicazione adeguate al mercato ed alle Imprese dei risultati in termini di disseminazione delle conoscenze facendo conoscere a un pubblico ampio i valori della gestione sostenibile dei boschi demaniali in termini di mantenimento/miglioramento dei servizi ecosistemici da essi forniti e di miglioramento dell’efficienza dell’operatività in cantiere.
