To avoid an unplanned mount, the ram effect as well as heat detection are traditionally realized through vasectomised rams. However the availability of vasectomised rams is sometimes limited. A farmer proposes a simply and cheap home-made apron made of a plastic sheet and a belt which allows the use of whole rams. Cut out a 50x50 cm plastic sheet and fasten it to a belt of about 2 meters with rivets. Tie the belt to the the abdominal area of the ram so that the plastic apron droops from the stomach and covers the penis when the ram tries to jump. This tip could be combined with the marking of the chest of rams with a crayon for oestrus detection.

Ritagliare un foglio di plastica di 50x50 cm e fissarlo a una cintura di circa 2 metri con dei rivetti. Legare la cintura alla zona addominale dell’ariete in modo che il grembiule di plastica cada dalla pancia e copra il pene quando l'ariete cerca di saltare. Questo suggerimento potrebbe essere combinato con la marcatura del petto di arieti con pastello per la rilevazione dell'estro.
