Objectives

A new barn concept is being developed, in which the pigs are monitored in real time using eartag sensors, with a pig toilet to reduce ammonia emissions, a feeding system based on the individual needs of the animals and a climate system to stimulate natural behaviour. In this way the natural behavior of the pigs can be promoted, which reduces stress among the pigs

Objectives

Er wordt een nieuw stalconcept ontwikkeld, waarin de varkens real-time gevolgd worden middels eartag-sensoren, met een varkenstoilet voor reductie van ammoniakuitstoot, een voersysteem op basis van de individuele behoefte van de dieren en een klimaatsysteem voor de stimulatie van natuurlijk gedrag. Zo kan het natuurlijk gedrag van de varkens worden bevorderd, wat stress onder de varkens vermindert

Activities

We are working on a data-driven self-learning barn environment with the following components: 1. The development of a data collection and analysis system for self-learning houses. This newly developed system can analyze the data obtained from the barn and make the behavior of the animals predictable, which offers the possibility to set up the system per pig and to manage the processes in detail. 2. 'Development' of the new pig for the new data-driven barn environment: the barn concept is essential for group behavior and social interaction between the pigs. The barn conditions will continuously adapt to the needs of the animals.

Activities

Er wordt gewerkt aan een data gedreven zelflerende stalomgeving met de volgende onderdelen:

  1. De ontwikkeling van een data collectie en -analyse systeem voor zelflerende stallen. Dit nieuw te ontwikkelen systeem kan de gewonnen data uit de stal analyseren en gedrag van de dieren voorspelbaar maken, wat mogelijkheid biedt om het systeem per varken in te richten en de processen tot in detail te managen.
  2. ‘Ontwikkeling’ van het nieuwe varken voor de nieuwe door data gedreven stalomgeving: het stalconcept is het groepsgedrag en de sociale interactie tussen de varkens van essentieel belang. Daarbij zullen de stalcondities zich continue aanpassen naar de behoeften van de dieren.

Kontext

De vraag vanuit de markt is duidelijk, betaalbaar, duurzaam varkensvlees, waarbij rekening wordt gehouden met dierenwelzijn en ammoniakreductie. Het hierop aanpassen van bestaande stallen is kostbaar, daarom wordt in dit project een stalconcept ontwikkeld, wat duurzaam vlees kan bieden tegen een concurrerende prijs.
