SSELECTION OF SELECT GENOTYPES OF INDEGENOUS WALNUT OF NERPIO AND STUDIES ON GRAFT OPTIMIZATION TO IMPROVE WALNUT QUALITY.
SELECCION DE GENOTIPOS SELECTOS DE NOGAL AUTOCTONO DE NERPIO Y ESTUDIOS DE OPTIMIZACION DE INJERTOS PARA LA MEJORA DE LA CALIDAD DE LA NUEZ. ACOGIDA A LA DENOMINACION DE ORIGEN ''NUECES DE NERPIO''
Objectives
-Saving of water resources and inputs, since the selected rootstocks of walnut in which the grafts are to be carried out are better adapted to the environment and to unfavorable climatic conditions.
-Meet the demands of consumers, in terms of organoleptic and healthy quality, as well as face competition with products from third countries
-Selection of autochthonous Nerpio germplasm of both rootstocks and rootstocks, with differential phytochemical profiles (high tannin levels) of interest for human health and environmental sustainability of walnut cultivation
Objectives
-Ahorro de recursos hídricos y de insumos, ya que los patrones selectos de nogal en los que se pretende realizar los injertos se encuentran mejor adaptados al medio y a las condiciones climáticas desfavorables
-Atender a las demandas de los consumodores, en cuanto a calidad organoléptica y saludable, asi como hacer frente a la competencia con productos de terceros países
-Selección del germoplasma autoctono de Nerpio tanto de patrones como de portainjertos, con unos perfiles fitoquímicos diferenciales (alto niveles de taninos) de interés para la salud humana y la sostenibilidad ambiental del cultivo del nogal
Activities
Development of improved Nerpio autochthonous walnut varieties, using new walnut grafting technologies, which provide quality walnuts with high antioxidant (tannin) content, vigorous trees that allow sustainable agriculture thanks to their adaptation to the area
