Operational Groups (OGs) are vital instruments for co-creating practical solutions in agriculture, forestry, and rural communities. By integrating Bio-Based Technologies (BBTs), OGs can turn agricultural and forestry biomass into valuable resources, such as biogas, biochar, natural fertilisers, and biomaterials, opening new value chains and contributing directly to CAP climate and sustainability goals.

Despite this potential, the number of BBT-related OGs across EU Member States remains low due to structural barriers in project conception, funding, and evaluation. As National CAP Networks take on new strategic responsibilities under the post-2027 framework, providing targeted support for bio-based innovation is essential.

To address these hurdles, the BBioNets consortium conducted an extensive survey across the project’s six countries (Ireland, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, and Italy). On 16 June 2026, BBioNets will host an online webinar to present the findings, highlighting shared national challenges and showcasing successful capacity-building strategies that have worked on a national level.

Target Audience: This event is designed for stakeholders involved in supporting, managing, or implementing Operational Groups at national or regional levels, including National CAP Network representatives, Managing Authorities, agricultural advisors, researchers, and practitioners.
