Objectives
Farmers have large amounts of excess grass, consisting of lawn cuttings and low-grade grass harvests. The aim of the OG is to valorise these grass residues by using grass juices as food for the cultivation of microalgae on the one hand and valorising the fibre fraction on the other hand. In this way, the OG aims to generate a wider income on Flemish farms.
Objectives
Activities
The project is divided into 4 work packages:
1) Development of the economic model based on available data sources and data from microalgae cultivation collected within this OG. The economic feasibility of the proposed value chains will also be evaluated.
2) Assessing the impact of the cutting season on the volume and nutrient content of grass juice.
3) Assessing the growth of microalgae in grass juice. The growth performance of various microalgae species, including Arthrospira, are tested.
4) Exchange of information between the partners and communication of the results to the agricultural sector.
Activities
