Irrigation efficiency, precision irrigation, digital tools
In traditionally-irrigated regions, water scarcity and variability in water availability at certain times of the year make careful decision-making at field and district level. Precision irrigation and precision fertigation allow farmers to respond effectively by automatically adjusting the amount of water and fertilisers applied, based on real-time conditions in the crop and soil. A wide range of digital tools, such as remote sensing, in-field sensors and decision support systems, are now available or under development to make this easier and more accurate.
