Farm diversification can strengthen business incomes, enhance resilience, and create new opportunities for rural development. This document presents a selection of 35 real-life examples (from 10 EU countries) illustrating how farms and rural businesses are expanding their activities, developing multifunctional business models, and engaging with new markets and stakeholders to address common economic, social, and environmental challenges.
The examples in this document were gathered through the Thematic Group (TG) on Farm diversification, which explored success factors and challenges for farm diversification.
This document is complemented by other documents produced by the TG: an overview of farm diversification across the EU, nine practical proposals to support diversification, and a factsheet with key areas of action needed to design a coherent policy framework.
