1 Practice Abstracts

Onions are an important crop for Zeeland agriculture, but for the transition to regenerative farming, onion cultivation is difficult. The alternative to chemical weed control, mechanical weed control, is the stumbling block. The project will develop an autonomous robot that detects weeds and then fights them with high-voltage electrical power, paving the way for regenerative onion cultivation.

Uien zijn een belangrijk gewas voor de Zeeuwse landbouw, echter voor de transitie naar regeneratieve landbouw is de teelt van uien moeilijk. Het alternatief voor chemische onkruidbestrijding, namelijk mechanische onkruidbestrijding, is hierbij het struikelblok. Binnen het project wordt een autonome robot ontwikkeld die onkruid detecteert en vervolgens het met elektrische hoogspanning bestrijdt, om zo de weg vrij te maken voor regeneratieve teelt van uien.
