The results of the project show that perennial lavender can be cultivated under the regional conditions of Upper Lusatia with good yields and positive effects on biodiversity. Irrigation was necessary in the year of planting, but was not required thereafter. In depressions with persistent waterlogging after rainfall, total crop failures were recorded in some cases. Accordingly, raised bed cultivation is preferable to flat bed cultivation. The farm has been able to establish new sources of income with lavender in the areas of direct marketing and tourism.
Im Ergebnis des Projekts lässt sich der mehrjährige Lavendel unter den regionalen Bedingungen der Oberlausitz mit guten Erträgen und positiven Effekten auf die Biodiversität anbauen. Im Pflanzjahr war Bewässerung nötig, danach jedoch verzichtbar. In Senken mit anhaltender Staunässe nach Regenfällen wurden zum Teil Totalausfälle verzeichnet. Demnach ist auch der Anbau in Dammkultur der Ebenkultur vorzuziehen. Der Betrieb hat sich mit dem Lavendel in den Bereichen Direktvermarktung und Tourismus neue Standbeine aufbauen können.
