What’s new in 2026 for the evaluation learning portals
In 2026, the evaluation learning portals will grow further, with new content on quantitative methods, netting-out approaches and emerging themes available to the CAP evaluation community.
The evaluation learning portals bring together thematic resources that give CAP stakeholders — from administrations to evaluators and researchers — a clear and accessible entry point into CAP Strategic Plan evaluations.
Through practical guidance, examples and tools, the portals available on the EU CAP Network website support users in planning, carrying out and reporting evaluations while helping to strengthen the CAP evaluation community’s methodological capacity.
Among the latest additions is guidance on the use of the network diversity index (NTd), a metric that captures diversity within a network of actors. As a measure of structural social capital, it can be used in the synthesis of Local Action Groups (LAGs) as one possible way of assessing the social capital dimension of LEADER added value.
In 2026, the portals will continue to expand with new content on key quantitative methods, including difference-GMM and system-GMM, fixed effects, ordinary least squares, randomised controlled trials and the synthetic control method.
Further portals are planned on topics such as AI in CAP evaluation, interoperable databases, farm practices labelling, digitalisation, climate and soil impacts, the environment and climate architecture, and farmers’ position in the food chain.
Together, these new resources will make the evaluation learning portals an even stronger hub for practical support and learning across the CAP evaluation community.
