EIP-AGRI Challenge videos: discover how challenges in the field are tackled

Six videos showcasing innovative farms and projects from across Europe.

The EU CAP Network has produced six EIP-AGRI Challenges over the past year, showcasing innovative farms and projects from six European countries.

These videos feature testimonials from farmers, foresters and rural communities, highlighting the challenges they face and the innovative solutions they have developed to address them.

The aim is to inspire and provide solutions to other European farmers, supporting the transition to more productive and sustainable agriculture, forestry and rural areas.

All EIP-AGRI Challenge videos were produced within the context of EU CAP Network events, focusing on innovation, knowledge exchange and EIP-AGRI.

Robotics and artificial intelligence in farming and forestry

Sander Verstegen runs a fruit company in the Netherlands. He shares how robotics and precision farming boost productivity on his 46-hectare apple and pear orchard. Discover how drone and camera data guide root cutting and fertilisation.

Alternative solutions for livestock product differentiation

Franz Rauscher runs a family pig farm in Austria, combining arable farming with livestock production. To stay competitive and ensure the next generation can continue farming, he is part of a programme that improves animal welfare to differentiate products on the market. From straw bedding to open-water points, the farm adapts its housing to make conditions more comfortable for pigs. Circular bioeconomy: valorisation of forest by-products

In Finland, Ari Henttonen, managing director of Ecopulp, shows how forestry by-products can create new value. From recycled paper packaging that replaces plastics to the ‘seedling paw’ that supports young trees, Ecopulp demonstrates practical ways to use local raw materials and renewable energy. These solutions reduce waste, strengthen forest value chains, and open new opportunities for the sector. Local perennial plant genetic resources

In Crete, farmer Panagiotis Raisakis fights climate change and chestnut blight to save chestnut trees. Through organic practices and innovative microbial-based cultivation, he is strengthening tree resilience and protecting this endangered 'superfood' for future generations. Carbon sequestration

Meet Etienne Lapierre from the EIP-AGRI OG ‘CarbonThink’. The project has developed a methodology to assess the full carbon balance of farming systems, contributing to the ‘Low carbon label’ created by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition. This label helps farmers certify their reduced greenhouse gas emissions and increased soil carbon storage.

Sensing the future: practical applications of proximal and remote sensing

How can sensing technologies help farmers use water more efficiently, manage crop health and address labour shortages?
