The EU CAP Network seminar ‘Innovative tools for advisors’ took place in Dublin, Ireland on 19 March and 20 March 2026.
The overall aim of the seminar was to facilitate knowledge exchange and identify practical tools that strengthen the capacity building of advisors.
The seminar focused on tools and methods developed under national and European initiatives, including digital platforms, knowledge hubs, learning networks, and demo farms.
Objectives
The seminar ‘Innovative tools for advisors’ had the following specific objectives:
- Capitalise on available results by showcasing inspiring practices and effective advisory tools developed under Horizon, EIP-AGRI and national initiatives, and building on lessons learned from AKIS activities to strengthen the capacity building of advisors and advisory organisations, particularly in their role as innovation brokers.
- Explore tools for knowledge exchange such as knowledge hubs, advisory networks, digital applications (including AI), demonstration farms, learning networks, and training events, illustrating how they can be applied in practice and strengthen collaboration between advisory services, CAP Strategic Plans Managing Authorities, National CAP Networks and EU projects.
- Bridge research and practice by exploring knowledge gaps among advisors, understanding how to better implement promising tools from project outputs in everyday practice, and involving advisors in research and innovation projects.
- Support peer-to-peer learning among advisors, encouraging intergenerational exchanges and promoting the cross-fertilisation of competences, business models, working styles, and underlying values, to build collective capacity and address the evolving needs of farmers and rural communities.
- Strengthen advisors’ capacity to support generational renewal by exploring suitable approaches and tools for advisors to support new entrants in farming and intergenerational farm transfer, contributing to the implementation of the “Strategy for Generational Renewal in Agriculture’’
