The online ad-hoc expert group meeting on 9 June 2026 will contribute to the preparatory work of three new Focus Groups.
For this year’s national expert group meeting, the following three Focus Group themes were selected for discussion:
- theme 1: forest wildfires
- theme 2: innovative management of fertilisers at farm level
- theme 3: passive and active protection measures for stone and pome fruit orchards against extreme weather events
The meeting will include a plenary session and three breakouts to discuss the specific Focus Group topics.
Outcomes for each theme
- the background and major challenges that farmers, foresters and rural businesses are facing when it comes to adopting knowledge and innovation in their practices, and the aims of the Focus Group in contributing to knowledge and innovation exchange
- a main question that the Focus Group should respond to in its activities
- a set of main tasks planned for the Focus Groups, including sharing innovative practices and success stories, identifying challenges, barriers, solutions and opportunities, research needs from practice, ideas for innovation projects, etc.
- a draft concept note for each Focus Group that can be the basis for the future call for Focus Group experts.
